Some Cell Phones Pose Risk of Tumors

STOCKHOLM (August 27, 2002) -- Users of first generation cell phones face a much greater risk of developing brain tumors than those who didnÕt use the phones, according to a study released by the European Journal of Cancer Prevention. The study of 1,617 Swedish cancer patients found that the users of the Nordic Modile Telephone (NMT) had a 30 percent greater chance of developing brain tumors. The risk was 80 percent greater for people who used the phones for more than ten years.
