Where's the Reset Button?
A picture named huskers.gifThe last time the huskers lost to Iowa State was 1992. The last time the Huskers fell out of the top 25 was 1981 (which was also the last time that Iowa State was rated). The last time the Huskers lost their conference opener was in 1974 (the same year I was born). I'm sure that with a book full of stats open, one could go on and on with streaks that were broken today. This was the conference opener. We have a very long way to go, including playing Texas.

Putting Nebraska aside however, it's just been a very strange year around the entire country. Penn State lost to Iowa today. Florida State lost to Louisville. Florida State almost lost to Iowa State. Notre Dame has played most of their difficult games and are now looking at a relatively easy path to the Fiesta bowl, where they may meet Miami, who is looking like they would find better competition by moving from the Big East to the AFC.

If this were simply a scenerio playing itself out on my Dreamcast football game, I would be reaching for the reset button right now to clean the slate and start all over. Unfortunately, we have to endure the season ahead. Hopefully Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma State will all just rollover and give us some easy victories. Otherwise there may be yet another streak waiting to be broken: consecutive bowl appearances.
