Who DO You Like?!
Well, based on past posts, it's obvious that I'm happy that the Yankees and Braves have been dispatched. Yes. I'm one of those that cheers for the underdogs. I've been a longtime Cubs fan and more recently a follower of the Red Sox. The Cubs are depressing to watch because, with the exception of players like Sammy, they're just no good. The Red Sox are typically a very good team, but have a team with very deep pockets just south of them in the Yankees that do whatever necessary to win the Eastern division of the American League. Unless it's your team, who wants to see the same team win something year after year. I love it when the Huskers take National Titles, but given the choice between having a severe underdog take ths Sears trophy or seeing it in the hands of a traditional power like Florida State, Florida, Miami, Notre Dame, Michigan, Oklahoma or Texas, I would take the underdog. ANYWAY, back to the four teams left in Baseball. I don't really care who wins, BUT I'm very excited to watch it all play out. The only team that I don't really like is the Giants, mostly because Bonds has always struck me as a rather self-loving guy. What an October it will be.

A Pretty Good Article About RSS
RSS, or "Rich Site Summary", feeds are popping up all over the place. RSS feeds allow a person to use a news reader application to browse sites and see headlines that have recently been posted there. These headlines are often hyperlinked to the actual story. With 'blogs centering so much around the idea of postings, they have become very popular ways to stay up to date with a large number of sites without having to visit them continuously. My RSS feed can be found near the bottom of the left column. Click on the title of this post to view a recent article in the San Jose Mercury News about RSS and ways in which they are being both published and viewed.

English & Journalism Web Logs
It seems pretty clear as I browse K-12 weblogs that these are being used primarily within the realm of English and Journalism classes. I'm encouraged by this in that this is seems to be a whole world of web development that is not being steered by the geeks. I have been trying to find what I think are very good examples of english/journalism uses of web logging. These are not all K-12, but I feel that all are useful in establishing an idea of what is going on. Look for the "Eng/Journ Web Logs" link in the left column.
