Manila: Coding for Masters
The title might be a little strong, but we're beginning a training at Lincoln Public Schools today for those that would like to learn more about the advanced parts of Manila. I'm starting it off today by introducing the idea of creating layouts with CSS and we're going to spend our session coding some layouts. One thing that Manila has surprisingly done is bring a focus back to hand coding pages and content. As web development classes moved further and further from the die-hard idea that everyone needs to dream in html, we're right back at that level in some ways. As CSS becomes as commonplace as html, it seems necessary that those who wish to step up to the next level become comfortable with it at a coding level. On my Using CSS page, I have added some books that I recently purchased and have really enjoyed having near. I have also posted the documentation that we will be using this evening in class.
