MS acquires Connectix Virtual PC, other apps
[MacNN]

Incredible. What are they planning with this? Do they just want the product or do they have something specific in mind? Drop Mac products and pitch this instead? Anything to sell a few more copies of Windows.

Google should be concerned about AlltheWeb
[Scripting News]

Google has proves it's incredible ability to find what you are after every time you use it. I'll keep trying Teoma. It looks like its search results may rival google's. Some people however, when the discussion turns to "who is better", can't help but to begin focusing on features. That war was already fought and we ended up with portals, most of which are not around anymore. People have gone to Google in droves because it does what Yahoo used to do. Keep it simple. Don't throw a bunch of crap at me when all I want to do is search. Search and search well.

Serious Alternatives to Google?
Dave Winer mentioned a search engine on his blog that I hadn't heard of: Teoma. I took a look at it and it is really something.

From Teoma's website: "Instead of ranking results based upon the sites with the most links leading to them, Teoma analyzes the Web as it is organically organized?in naturally-occurring communities that are about or related to the same subject?to determine which sites are most relevant. Teoma is the only search technology that can locate communities on the Web within their specific subject areas, as they actually exist. And this allows us to finely tune our search process, providing more precise results."
