A Toronto based company Moontaxi Media Inc. has signed up most of the Canadian record label companies to launch a downloadable music service this fall.  Apparently it proposes to distribute the music in Windows Media Audio files.

Two used servers of the Bank of Montreal ended up being posted for sale on ebay.  The servers hard drives had not been scrubbed before being sold to the reseller.  The drives contained client banking information along with employee information.  The problem was discovered before the servers were sold on ebay.

This raises similar issues in the legal and insurance environments.  Firms replace computers, hard drives and tape backups regularly.  What steps are taken to ensure confidential information is not accidently released?
