A lifetime spent working for or taking part in aquatic sports will culminate in a Hertfordshire man becoming President of national sports governing body the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA). Jeff Cook of Welwyn Garden City will take up his chain of office at the ASA Annual Council meeting on Saturday 22nd February.

Di Bishop, former Commonwealth Games gold medallist, world record holder and currently the Amateur Swimming Association's Director of Development is to be presented with the International Olympic Committee's "Women in Sport" award for 2003. The award from the British Olympic Association recognises outstanding achievements in Britain in developing and encouraging the participation of women and girls in sport.

Lancaster City won a hard fought final game to claim the British Men[base ']s Water Polo Championship 2003 this weekend in Manchester. As the form suggested the last game against London based Hammersmith Penguin, was the decider as Lancaster came away with the title, winning 11 - 6. The contest for third place was between Bristol and Rotherham, with the West Country team coming out winners 13 - 6.
