The Environment Trust, working with the London Fields User Group, has put together a team to renovate and manage the London Fields Lido, at a capital cost of £1.4m and with no further revenue cost to the Council.
1.1 We believe that:
• London Fields in the London Borough of Hackney desperately needs capital and operational investment to realise its recreational potential.
• The existing run down and underused sporting facilities could, if renewed and rejuvenated, produce a local park combining high quality sport and leisure activities with areas of relaxation and enjoyment that is a source of pride for the local community.
• We can provide an exciting community owned ‘people’s country club’ style leisure centre that re-instates the old London Fields Lido, but as an all year round indoor pool together with a new health & fitness club. The Centre, including the existing tennis courts and refurbished football pitches, would act as a fulcrum for change and rejuvenation of the park as a whole.
• Any new Centre should be run at the highest professional level at a standard expected of a private club but at reasonable and in some cases concessionary prices.
We've got a stall for the London Pools Campaign, I've got some general information about each campaign, but if anyone would like to send more information, please email. Also be very glad to see anyone who would like to help with the stall. Sorry for short notice..
