Fluid- the consultants working with EDAW, the Master Planners fort the London Olympic bid, are undertaking a series of workshops and consultations from mid November. These cover: Master Plans for Lower Lea Valley: Olympics sites, post- Olympic legacy and Non-Olympic Master Plan.

There is a session in Hackney, in Old Baths, Eastway E9 on November 21st, with an exhibition to which people are invited to drop in between 12 and 5pm and an evening session with presentation from EDAW and a discussion. For details of the events see their website- lowerleevalley.com or contact them onlowerleevalley@f-l-u-i-d.co.uk

Getting to Old Baths, Eastway. North London line to Hackney Wick- about 5-10 minute walk, buses 236, 276, and S2 pass quite close. TAKE YOUR A-Z. There is a cycle path- Red Path from Mabley Green which passes close to the Baths.

The rumour is that there will be information in the press on November 10-11th about venues for main Olympics sites. An article in Guardian (October 28th2003) suggests that Village, Stadium and Media Centre may all be built around Marshgate Land area.

They would be better placed there for transport links- nearer to Stratford and there is a DLR station at Pudding Mill Lane. There are some messy activities there, but it is also an area of considerable value for wildlife- Lee Navigation, Old River Lea and several of the Bow Back Rivers- Channelsea, Pudding Mill River, and Waterworks run through the area. The Greenway which connects Victoria Park to Abbey Mills, West Ham and beyond crosses the area. Fencing in the area as venues are built is likely to mean the closure of Greenway and Lee Navigation and hence has implications for those who walk, cycle and boat through the Lower Lee Valley.
