assorted images of the refurbed splash So the new Stoke Newington Aquatic Centre is open and full of water and we thought we'd comment on how the refurb job on the 'splash' in Clissold Park was standing up to the weather, water, kids and whatever else as it is now officially Hackney's newest, working, aquatic facility. We are, of course, unsurprised at how the job looks. Paint is already peeling across large areas of the pool where it obviously hasn't bonded with the previous covering, the rubber jointing hasn't taken the paint at all and looks as though it was applied with a stick and the only broken copings are the new ones. Although the paths around the splash are great, which operative accepted this job? (the same that accepted Clissold? Ed).

Still we are better off than the users of Millfields who are far enough from Clissold and the whingeing middle classes to still have an empty, dry and un-repaired paddling pool. Mind you it was mission-accomplished on not accepting money from the local community to do a proper job eh Jules? [Clissold Leisure Users' News]

Guy Nicholson says the reason the reason the wobbly bridge was fixed in six months and Clissold hasn't even been examined is that the wobbly Bridge 'was visible' and Clissold isn't. Well folks this meeting, 'a meeting in public not a public meeting,' held at 4pm on Shavuot I (Jewish holiday) went off as planned and rehearsed and it was deplorable! click for a report ...
