Hackney Stop Sats - public meeting 11 June

Hackney Stop Sats (a parents' group) and the Hackney Teachers Association have called a public meeting on Wednesday 11 June at 5.30pm in the Bullion Rooms, behind Hackney Empire, to build a campaign against the SATs tests which blight education.

Speakers include children's author and broadcater Michael Rosen, a Hackney parent, a Hackney primary teacher and others.

All are welcome, especially school students, parents, governors and teachers.

To get involved email hackneystopsats@yahoo.co.uk or ring Charlie Kimber 07986 936094

recreation by design - not at Clissold though

Recreation by Design is the sixth exhibition of recent work by London architects. It is curated by RIBA London, the regional office for the capital city. This exhibition showcases a range of built projects and design proposals by RIBA London architects that demonstrate the importance to communities and consumers of good design in recreation projects, from bars and thatres to leisure centres and parks. It highlights the best current schemes from a wide range of projects from London, around the UK and abroad.

Includes several hackney-based architects .....

As the management and staff will tell you "Come to Clissold and we'll show you how NOT to build a leisure facility" ..... and that's what they do give tours to architects to show them the mistakes that have been made. [Clissold Leisure Users' News]
