Back in Tucson, after some glorious days in Spain. I loved Granada, Spain! Madrid was good too, but Granada touched me heart and soul! It was a treat to read about Rick's praxis weblog set up using Movable Type from an Internet Cafe. I've never used cybercafes before and enjoyed the experience. While in Spain, besides presenting at ISKO, I also made sure I did all the usual 'normal' things one does at home: checked out the laundry service :-), mailed postcards from the post office (this was a former palace and must surely be the grandest post office in the world!!), bought groceries, software & hardware, books, walked everywhere, and then when tired used taxis and buses. Surprising things: how friendly the Spaniards (both Madrilenos and Granadians) are, how few spoke English (even in Madrid), how many cybercafes there are (every street corner practically and very well-set up and run!), and how American fast food is everywhere. Seeing Burger Kings, MacDonalds, and KFCs in neo-classical buildings is a treat indeed. Enjoyed reading the ASIS&T wiki from abroad too to get a feel for the pulse at SIRLS. More later...
And, back to business: Weblogs..."a natural for librarians" says this *.ppt presentation (quoting from somewhere else) which discusses Building New Communities: Learning from Weblogs. URL: http://www.infonortics.com/vc/vc2002/presentations/coates.pdf
