According to the June 10, 2003 Wall Street Journal, information (including nonfiction) is the basis of more than half of the Gross  Domestic Product and entertainment content (including fiction) is the largest US export. The top three links for a Google search with this sentence were all books published in 2002.

1) An excerpt from a book, The Support Economy: Why Corporations are Failing Individuals and the Next  Episode of Capitalism by Shoshana Zuboff (an author I like - an earlier book of hers is titled In the Age of the Smart Machine) and James Maxmin: http://business.library.emory.edu/newbooks/December02/excerpts/support.htm

2) A book titled IQ and the Wealth of Nations, which sounds quite controversial, http://www.u.arizona.edu/~asc/http://btobsearch.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbninquiry.asp?endeca=1&;;ean=9780275975104.

3) The Politics of Fortune: A New Agenda for Business Leaders, http://btobsearch.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbninquiry.asp?btob=Y&;ean=9781578518784&displayonly=EXC
