Homework Assignment: A slide by slide critique of Doc Searls's Jabberconference Presentation Coming Soon to my stories section, "Engaging Doc Searls on Infrastructure." Go look at his presentation first and get all your arguments worked up anyone and everyone, so you can take me on if you like.
Infrastructure Infrastructure Infrastructure Infrastructure!. Doc Searls: Infrastructure Infrastructure Infrastructure Infrastructure! [Hack the Planet] See, the Politics of Deep Structure Interfaces is my pet topic, my hobby horse, the title of my book manuscript, right? Or at least it is getting there. It'll be the secondary monograph to come out of my dissertation, right now about 50% written in manuscript form, about 50% in scrawling notes pressed so hard the pages curl. Yes, sometimes I do have to write and draw pictures the old fashioned way. I've been an early fan and signatory on the Cluetrain Manifesto (http://www.cluetrain.org) or alternately (http://www.gluetrain.org). Sure, it's a manifesto, so of course it is pie in the sky. One part of me wants to say "Yes!" while the other side says "Hmm, isn't this a bit naive?" So Doc, I'm gonna take you on. We bat for the same team, to be sure, but there are some iss-ewws overlooked in your presentation. Terrific ideas there, ideas I need to engage to work the arguments out. Don't I just sound like an academic puke?
Sorry. I'll resist the urge to footnote, but these ideas need the dialogue. They are still a monologue, and as you say, "Markets are conversations." Welcome to the parlor. |
