The Words of a Potential Participant
With all the debate still raging in all the world capitals and in the streets about whether or not to go to war to force Saddam Hussein to disarm, maybe it is instructive to read the words of a very interested party:
To tell the truth, I'm not looking forward to war. While I'm certain that we will prevail and that the Slimeball in Iraq will be crushed like a snail under a Mack truck, I would be more than happy to go home having never fired a single shot in anger. War is messy. Things will get broken and people will die, including some innocent non-combatants.
Written by a US officer, training somewhere in the desert, preparing for the war to come, if it comes. Sobering and sensible stuff, confident too. Worth reading the whole thing.
