Boo to CNN!
Almost at the moment that the Pope's death was announced last
night, the European CNN correspondents who had been faithfully covering
this story over many weeks, (the admirable Alessio Vinci, Walt Rodgers,
Jim Bitterman, even the ineffable Christiane), were unceremoniously
shouldered aside, and the oily Aaron Brown became the anchorperson, to
be joined today by the even more awful, preppy Bill Hemer. It
jars, and the occasion being covered loses an amazing amount of
diginity and respect. Shame! Let's hope they get back to
Atlanta or New York really soon, and Alessio gets his story back.
