Will Johnston produces Thinkmedia. I have been involved with technology and product development since 1983 when I bought and started programming my first PC. I was a member of the Apple HyperCard development team, founder of the BuyDirectory (among the first consumer search engines), Sr. Product Manager for PDF at Adobe Systems, Sr. Product Manager for Commerce at Inktomi Corporation and one of the earliest users of the WELL and Usenet.

Thinkmedia provides consulting services for the intersection of technology and business.

I have to agree with Dave. I think the market is coming close to the bottom and their will be a bull showing this Fall. I would imagine the bull won't be as agressive as in the past, but probably put a 1000 points back on the dow, while the NASDAQ is a little more dubious. A picture named greenspan.gifThoughts about the stock market. I rarely make predictions, at least in public. Last November I had all my liquid assets in stocks, and I sold them, turning them into cash, in US dollars, locking in some substantial losses. At first, it was not a good decision, but in the last few weeks I've come to appreciate it. I saved a lot of money. Today I had a flash that the market is at or near its bottom now. I don't think it's going to go up very quickly, but I think the precipitous fall is over. We've factored in the lack of trust of management of companies. Greenspan's comments, referenced <a href="#When:9:23:36AM">below, really made a difference to me. From this point we'll get much better information about how the companies are doing. Stock options are over. Salaries and benefits matter. Transparent management. Time to ride the Cluetrain, for real. Companies that make identifiable products for real people that they communicate with. And responsibility among shareholders and customers and journalists, as well. [Scripting News]

Amazon web services offering... Amazon.com Web Services. I would imagine that plugging into this could create some great intergration opportunties. Having provided both SOAP and XML interfaces should allow for some interesting experimentation. I think web services is going to begin opening doors for ways we think about the web, comparable to what http and html first provided.
