Grid computing is emerging, at least in the press. Some see a tie between grid computing and web services, yet it seems applicable to any distributed computing problems. I would imagine that the re-emergence of AI applications will rely on grid computing for the process and memory intensive aspects. Time to Hop on the Gridwagon. On the application tools side, web service sales have been slow. However, Bill Gates indicates that internal development and adoption is higher than Microsoft had expected. Lack of technological maturity in web services infrastructure and unified standards adoption is sited as a reason for limited spending. Web services spending stalled.
