"Bruce Friedrich will discuss his view that a vegan diet is the only diet that takes seriously the health and environmental implications of animal agriculture, at the June lecture of the Vegetarian Society of Hawaii. He will also discuss the impact of factory farming and slaughterhouse consolidation on worker safety, third world poverty, and animal welfare.
As Director of Vegan Outreach for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the largest animal rights organization in the world, Mr. Friedrich directed the efforts to force fast-food behemoth McDonaldÔFD5s to become the first corporation in U.S. history to adopt animal welfare guidelines. His controversial ÔFD2Got Beer?ÔFD3 campaign encouraging college students to drink beer instead of milk made headlines across the country and generated a record number of visits to PETAÔFD5s DumpDairy.com website. Bruce has appeared on countless television and radio programs, including NBCÔFD5s Today show, CNN, the Fox News Network, MSNBC, and Court TV. His work to champion veganism and animal rights has made headlines throughout the country, including repeated stories in The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, The Washington Post, and USA Today. I'm working on a story on garbage where it goes, from the curb to landfill. Bulk. Think bulk on an unthinkable scale. Tons and tons of garbage, sorted thru and dumped. [Scorcher Radio]
