Java Email Client. I've been interested in replacing my dependence on Outlook with a Java email client. I've taken a look at two: Columb@ , and Clevercactus. [Dan Martin's Weblog]

Y'know, one of these days I'd love to know just what the Rete algorithm is. Anyways, Jess, a java rule engine, inspired by the venerable CLIPS.

Sequitur. "Sequitur is a method for inferring compositional hierarchies from strings. It detects repetition and factors it out of the string by forming rules in a grammar." Think of it as a (rather good) compression engine where the compressed version is not only legible but interesting and useful. (Submitted by Effugas.) [sweetcode]

Jazilla 1.0 Released. A Java rewrite of Mozilla project went into hibernation in 2000 and has recently been restarted (news released today at Slashdot). The goal of the project, known as Jazilla, is to create a "Mozilla like Browser suite, which is standards compliant and embedable." The first milestone can be found here....
