Il Pentagono ha declassificato alcuni documenti contenenti indicazioni precise su Test Batteriologici condotti dagli USA negli anni 60 in Alaska, alle Hawaii, in Canada ed in Gran Bretagna. Pare che un migliaio di soldati siano in qualche modo rimasti contagiati, assieme ad un buon numero di animali. Naturalmente si ignora se ci siano state 'ricadute' sui civili......Per vostra curiosità, ve ne riporto un piccolo campionario:
Devil Hole I, designed to test how sarin gas would disperse after being released in artillery shells and rockets in aspen and spruce forests. The tests occurred in the summer of 1965 at the Gerstle River test site near Fort Greeley, Alaska. Sarin is a powerful nerve gas that causes a choking, thrashing death. The Bush administration says it is part of Iraq's chemical arsenal.
Devil Hole II, which tested how the nerve agent VX behaved when dispersed with artillery shells. The test at the Gerstle River site in Alaska also included mannequins in military uniforms and military trucks. VX is one of the deadliest nerve agents known and is persistent in the environment because it is a sticky liquid that evaporates slowly. Iraq has acknowledged making tons of VX.
Big Tom, a 1965 test that included spraying bacteria over the Hawaiian island of Oahu to simulate a biological attack on an island compound, and to develop tactics for such an attack. The test used Bacillus globigii, a bacterium believed at the time to be harmless. Researchers later discovered the bacterium, a relative of the one that causes anthrax, could cause infections in people with weakened immune systems.
Rapid Tan I, II, and III, a series of tests in 1967 and 1968 in England and Canada. The tests used sarin and VX, as well as the nerve agents tabun and soman, at the British chemical weapons facility in Porton Down, England. Tests at the Suffield Defence Research Establishment in Ralston, Canada, included tabun and soman, the records show.
Non è carino che 'Rapid Tan' si traduca con 'Abbronzatura Rapida' ??.....
Tutti ormai saprete che un AstroFisico Italiano - Roberto Giacconi - è stato insignito del Nobel per la Fisica 2002 assieme ad un Americano - Raymond Davis - ed un Giapponese - Masatoshi Koshiba. Ma ecco come viene riportata la notizia da parte di SpaceToday.net:
"Three physicists from the US and Japan have won the 2002 Nobel Prize for their work in x-ray and neutrino astronomy. One half of the award was given to American astrophysicist Riccardo Giacconi, president of the Associated Universities, Inc., in Washington, for pioneering the field of x-ray astronomy."
Infatti, il Prof. Giacconi è cittadino Usa....quindi - more solito - mentre sul TG1 si esulta per l'Italico ingegno che fugge all'estero, CNN segna due punti per l'America ed uno per il Giappone!...i consueti campanilismi dell'era globale!

Un nuovo 'gadget' è in giro per i nostri mari: se qualcuno - gironzolando per gli oceani (!!) - avesse la ventura di scorgere un'antenna puntata verso il cielo, attaccata a due pinne apparteneneti ad uno strano oggetto a forma di bomba color rosa shocking....non si spaventi; non si tratta di un Ufo o di un'arma sottomarina!....i tecnici dell'Applied Phisics Laboratory hanno messo a punto una sonda automatica per il monitoraggio e l'esplorazione delle profondità oceaniche: il SeaGlider. Si tratta di un gioiellino elettronico racchiuso in un guscio di fibra di vetro - capace dunque di sopportare compressioni fino a 1000 metri - pieno di sensori; si immerge, sta in immersione per circa più di un mese, memorizza i dati raccolti, poi riemerge e tramite l'antennone 'spara' i dati ad un satellite GPS...poi fa il 'download' del nuovo profilo della missione sottomarina e si immerge........automatico ed autonomo. Fantastico e geniale:.....se lo fanno i civili, pensate che i militari se lo siano lasciati sfuggire?
