ARRESTED: Najeh Davenport, Green Bay Packers

MIAMI – South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports former University of Miami standout Najeh Davenport, a fourth round draft choice of the Green Bay Packers, was arrested Monday for allegedly breaking into a university dormitory and defecating in a woman's closet. He was charged with a second-degree felony count of burglary and a misdemeanor count of criminal mischief, after surrendering to police. He was released Monday from a Miami-Dade County jail after posting a $6,500 bond. He faces up to 15 years in jail, if convicted.

ARRESTED: Al Unser, Jr., race car driver

INDIANAPOLIS – Associated Press reports Al Unser Jr. was charged with domestic battery early Tuesday after a woman accused the two-time Indianapolis 500 winner of hitting her and leaving her on the side of an interstate highway.

ARRESTED: Gianluca Branco, European Super Lightweight Champion

ROME – Associated Press reports Gianluca Branco, the European super lightweight champion, and his brother Silvio Branco, a former boxing champion, have been arrested as part of a probe into a loansharking.

ARRESTED: Steve DeBerg, former NFL

TAMPA, Fla. – Associated Press reports former NFL quarterback Steve DeBerg was arrested over the weekend and charged with driving under the influence. He was also arrested for DUI in New York in 1996, when he was a coach for the New York Giants.

 ARRESTED: Norberto Arroyo, Jr., jockey

WEST HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Thoroughbred Times reports Jockey Norberto Arroyo Jr., who currently rides at Belmont Park, was arrested by Nassau County, New York, police on Friday on three charges of felony assault. Police claim Arroyo put a man in intensive care after assaulting him with a pool cue on June 9.

ARRESTED: Sean Sonderleiter, Iowa basketball player

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Des Moines Register reports Iowa basketball player Sean Sonderleiter was charged with possession of marijuana Wednesday near Carver-Hawkeye Arena after being stopped for running a stop sign. The arrest is the sixth drug or alcohol arrest of an Iowa player in the last nine months.

ARRESTED: Big Van Vander, professional wrestler

BOULDER, Colo. – Boulder Daily Camera reports professional wrestler Leon Allen White, a.k.a Big Van Vader, 47, was arrested Monday night on suspicion of spitting and threatening officers with rocks, resisting arrest, drinking and driving, careless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

ARRESTED: Rodney Wright, Buffalo Bills
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Associated Press reports Buffalo Bills rookie WR Rodney Wright, a seventh-round draft selection, was arrested Tuesday on charges that he injured two people during a hit-and-run crash. Wright surrendered Tuesday afternoon and was jailed on reckless driving and felony hit-and-run charges.

ARRESTED: Bob Avellini, former NFL

CHICAGO -- Chicago Tribune reports former Bears quarterback Bob Avellini is free on a $100 bond after he allegedly used a golf club to smash the glass door of a North Side tavern after employees would not let him back inside.

 ARRESTED: Charles Alexander, former NCAA basketball player

BRADENTON, Fla. – The Associated Press reports former Oklahoma State basketball player Glendon Alexander was charged with allegedly stealing $150,000 in cash and jewelry from former Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Derek Bell.
