ARRESTED: Jeff Herrod, former NFL

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- Associated Press reports former linebacker Jeff Herrod, the Indianapolis Colts' leading tackler since their move from Baltimore in 1984, remained in jail on Tuesday awaiting extradition to Nevada on a charge of passing bad checks.  Herrod, who retired in 1999, was arrested Friday and charged with drunken driving and resisting arrest. A check for warrants showed he was being sought in Nevada on a charge of passing bad checks totaling more than $75,000.

ARRESTED: Mark Hartigan, Atlanta Thrashers

MINNEAPOLIS -- Associated Press reports Atlanta Thrashers center Mark Hartigan was charged with assault and disorderly conduct after getting into a fight with a bouncer at a bar. Details of the case were not immediately available, but the fifth-degree assault charge, a misdemeanor, can range from a threat to cause bodily harm to physical contact.
