NEW YORK -- New York Daily News reports Fred Edelstein, the high-living publisher of an influential NFL newsletter who used some of the biggest names in football to hustle investors out of almost $1 million, was sentenced Thursday to 21 months in federal prison.

PLEA BARGAIN: Ed Martin, Michigan basketball booster
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan Daily reports banned Michigan basketball booster Ed Martin entered a guilty plea Wednesday to charges he made money from an illegal gambling conspiracy and laundered it to former Michigan basketball players Chris Webber, Robert Traylor, Maurice Taylor and Louis Bullock to conceal substantial amounts of cash. The loans were kept secret by the players and their families.
PLEA BARGAIN: Cliff Robinson, Detroit Pistons
PHOENIX -- Associated Press reports former Phoenix Suns player Cliff Robinson pleaded guilty Wednesday to a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge. Robinson, who was traded to the Detroit Pistons following his February 2001 arrest, was sentenced to 12 months of probation. As part of the plea, a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was dropped.

SENTENCED: Jerry Dusenberry, former USA Boxing president
PORTLAND, Ore. – Associated Press reports the former president of USA Boxing pleaded guilty to sex abuse charges Wednesday and was sentenced to more than 10 years in prison. Jerry Dusenberry, 62, pleaded guilty in Multnomah County Circuit Court to criminal conduct with four separate victims.

GOLDEN, Colo. – Associated Press reports former Denver Broncos safety Mike Harden was sentenced to six years in a halfway house for defrauding and stealing from women he knew.
DEFERRED JUDGEMENT: Plaxico Burress, Pittsburgh Steelers
VIRGINIA BEACH – Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports a misdemeanor charge of public intoxication against Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Burress will be dismissed if he is not arrested again or charged with any other crimes within a year, a judge ruled yesterday.
