REJECTED: FOI Request in Jayson Williams Case

TRENTON, N.J. -- Associated Press reports state police rejected a newspaper's request to turn over tapes of the 911 call made after a limousine driver was shot to death at the home of former NBA star Jayson Williams. The tapes were ruled a part of a criminal investigation and therefore are not open to the public under the law.

SENTENCED: Olden Polynice, former NBA

HOLLADAY, Utah -- Salt Lake City Tribune reports former Utah Jazz center Olden Polynice will appeal his conviction on misdemeanor assault charges. Polynice was sentenced Monday to probation and community service in justice court for a run-in with another golfer at a local course last year. He immediately demanded a new trial.

SURRENDERS: Allen Iverson, Philadelphia 76ers

PHILADELPHIA -- Associated Press reports NBA star Allen Iverson surrendered early Tuesday on charges that he burst into his cousin's apartment with a handgun and threatened two men while looking for his wife after an argument.
