CHARGED: Emmanuel Wade & Justin Reed, Mississippi Basketball
OXFORD, Miss. -- Associated Press reports Mississippi guard Emmanuel Wade was charged with assault and resisting arrest after he was accused of hitting a police officer. Forward Justin Reed, the Rebels' leading scorer and rebounder last season, faces a misdemeanor charge of simple assault stemming from the same incident, which occurred at a skating rink parking lot on Sept. 21.
Wade faces up to five years in prison and $1,245 in fines if convicted of the felony charge. A hearing is scheduled for next month. He was booked in the Lafayette County Jail early last Saturday and released the same day on a $5,000 bond. Reed was released on $500 bond.
