PREPPING: Stringer v. Minnesota Vikings

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Star-Tribune reports a year after Korey Stringer's death from heatstroke, attorneys are scrambling for evidence to show whether the Vikings are to blame or whether it was a tragedy for which they aren't at fault. Nearly seven months after the Stringer family announced a wrongful death lawsuit against the team in a highly-publicized news conference, lawyers on both sides remain confident.

JUDGEMENT REVERSED: Jeff Novak, former NFL

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Associated Press reports a judge threw out a $5.35 million verdict awarded to former Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman Jeff Novak, saying that Novak didn't prove he received negligent treatment from a former team doctor. Circuit Judge Frederick Tygart wrote in a ruling made public Thursday that a jury's July 19 malpractice verdict against Dr. Stephen Lucie and his employer, Jacksonville Orthopedic Institute, could not be legally supported.
