Why doesn't StreamWriter close?

A neat thread on finalizers, inheritence and application shutdown in .NET.

As the United States comes upon its Independence Day, you may wish to say thank you (electronically) to our men and women in the armed forces.
[The .NET Guy]

I spent a few weeks playing Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault and enjoyed it's attention to history. Because of that, I recently popped in the Saving Private Ryan DVD and watched it again. And then Black Hawk Down got released. These "real" films show you the sacrifices our armed forces made and continue to make.

Thank You!

Buy.com and instant 20 dollar rebates.

Buy.com vows to undersell Amazon books. Buy.com is broadening its war with Amazon.com, promising to sell its books at 10 percent below Amazon's prices. [CNET News.com]

So instead of putting a $10 bill in every order they are going to put a $20 bill?  I mean, I love Buy.com.  I've bought a lot of stuff from them because they are so cheap.  I've never had any problems with anything I've gotten from them.  But they underprice everything.  I remember when Playstations were selling for 200 bucks.  They were selling them for 175 and I believe I got free shipping on that order.

[Justin Rudd's Radio Weblog]

I'd have to agree with Justin on this. I've bought a lot of stuff from Buy.com because:

a) It's priced well
b) Never had a problem

When I need a new piece of hardware (printer, scanner, etc...) I research over the internet, make a choice then go to Buy.com to check prices.

The Mirage of Moderate Islam

"Any honest scholar will tell you that Islam is a religion of violence, martyrdom, and conversion by the sword. The duty to wage war for the propagation of the faith is plainly written in the Koran".

I found this article extremely interesting.

Ooops!

WorldCom Finds $3.8 Billion Error, Fires CFO

How does this kind of stuff happen? Is there only one guy in charge of the money? What's the worst thing? -- Another Andersen client. Double ouch!

Another blog in the bitstream...

Decided to start a blog today. I looked into Radio back in January of this year, but didn't have the time to really dig in and see what it was all about. I've recently learned more about the whole RSS newsfeeds and I think it's a great way to quickly gather and share information.

I'm looking forward to this! :)
