Now's the time to ask!
We are working on a major release now. This would be
a great time for you to give input into what you would like. Consider
this an open request for input. I can't promise how much of it we'll
do, of course, but we'd love to hear the suggestions.
[Microsoft's Brian Harry on DOTNET-CLR]
Just in case anyone missed that one. Some great suggestions have already been posted.

I am so sick of this Java crap! Write once, run anywhere? Yeah right! How about this (more accurate description):
Write once, run anywhere on the same JVM on a properly configured machine!
Messing with CLASSPATH variables just plain sucks! It's a virtual hit-and-miss game to see what JAR gets loaded. Oh yeah -- don't forget to find the right JAR file. Sure, the class loader may throw an exception and tell you what class it can't find -- but when you've got 50+ JAR files to deal with, finding the one with the right class in it isn't always easy.
