Summer Weather

Spent about 30 minutes in the basement today. The tornado sirens went off about 2:00pm. The sky north of us was pretty dark, but by us it was just regular clouds.

Once the sirens started going off, we got the kids in the basement and then I went back upstairs to check things out on the computer. The internet really is a wonderful thing. Sure, the Weather Channel has local weather every 10 minutes, but I really didn't want to wait 10 minutes! By going to the IWIN National Warnings Area I could check out the text of the warning right from NOAA. It seems a funnel cloud was spotted about 5 miles from my house. Luckily for us, it was north east of us and moving east. Still, we stayed in the basement for the 30 minute duration of the warning.

So how was your afternoon? :)
