 You have to pay to enter central London by vehicle. Transport for London levies a congestion charge of five pounds for those who wish to drive through the area. A network of 230 camaras checks your license plate to verify that you are in compliance. The congestion charge applies from 7 am to 6:30 pm on Monday through Friday. You can pay online up to 90 days in advance of entering the Zone.
One of the goals of the congestion zone charge is to encourage alternative transportation use.
