A recent article in Baseline magazine details how Layton Construction has moved the management of its construction projects from a spreadsheet-based system to a more comprehensive construction management system. The benefits both in terms of cost, management information, and time are tremendous. The State of Utah does quite a bit of business with Layton who is one of the largest general contractors in the area. Utah has also implemented a robust construction and maintenance management system that is supported by the Division of Facilities Construction and Management.
