Linux PVR ( MythTV ) - a TIVO alternative I've been doing a fair amount of research on what it takes to build a MythTV box.  MythTV is a Linux Personal Video Recorder Project - ala Tivo.  I've found the following resources very helpful. How to Build a MythTV System on Fedora Core w/ ATrpms Installing and using MythTV MythTV User Forum / Mailing List Archive IvTV Faq - Hardware issues (wki) PVR Hardware Database  I purchased a Hauppauge PVR-250 Tuner / MPEG-2 Hardware Encoder card and hopefully I'll have some time over the next couple of weeks to start putting things together.  The neat part is with hardware MPEG-2 decoding and encoding, the processor doesn't have to be very powerful... perfect for some of the old machines that are cluttering my office at work. 3:01:50 PM    comment []
