This is a great idea. Take pictures of all of the points in which the full degree marks of lattitude and longitude converge (every 49 miles!) - called a confluence point.

16,000 Things to Do with GPS: "A project to collect digital photographs of 16,000 points on the globe is gaining momentum. It's also giving thousands of people who shelled out for GPS devices something to do with them. By Joanna Glasner." [ via Wired]

A project that is attainable with the scope of it being within reach.  I'd consider allowing even greater detail if people were interested - maybe a photograph every half-degree.

Nearest to me is: 43°N 83°W 

(which is incredibly close to where Tammy and I were married)
