The World Wide Panorama, a quarterly event promoting VR photography, will celebrate the upcoming Equinox (22 September) with the theme "energy". More information at http://geoimages.berkeley.edu/wwp/Practical/NextEvent.html

This event is open to all, and worldwide participation is anticipated. The previous six events have created a showcase of VR photography, with over a thousand panoramas from 44 countries. The World Wide Panorama represents everyone in the VR community, from first-timers to famous professional photographers. View it at http://WorldWidePanorama.com

The rules for participation are simple. Photography must be done during the stated period of 21-25 September (Wednesday to Sunday). The subject matter must be related to the theme of "energy". There will then be over a week to produce a VR panorama in QuickTime format and upload it to the WWP preparation server, along with caption and other information.

The site will be available to participants during its assembly (21 September - 7 October), then closed for two days for final editing. The finished site will be open to the public on 10 September. We hope to have press releases in several languages available for distribution by participants. -------------------- The World Wide Panorama is sponsored by the Geography Computing Facility at the University of California Berkeley. The site is hosted by The Geo-Images Project. This is a non-commercial project, done simply to create enthusiasm for VR photography, and provide an outlet for our collective creativity.

All images are copyright by the individual photographers. Use in any way other than viewing on this web site is prohibited unless permission is obtained from the relevant photographer. The overall site is copyright by the Regents of the University of California.

The World Wide Panorama events and web sites have been organized and created by G. Donald Bain and Landis Bennett, graphics by Kat Kalamaras, server development and interactive maps by Markus Altendorff.

Purpose
VRlog provides news, developments and analysis of the virtual reality (VR) world from a nature photographer's perspective. Since I am not connected to or funded by any VR vendor, I intend to objectively appraise what's going on, and the direction VR is headed in. -- erik goetze
