Introduction to Bone Lace:

Bone Lace?? That title - sans story - has been in the back of my head for a decade or so now. It's a relief to find a place for it. Feel free to tell me what it means.

I don't know who came up with the idea of a weblog, but thank you. Where else could one store such an eclectic collection? Tracking will comprise a handful of developing news stories that I monitor more or less continuously. Seminar will include notes and reading lists for all the courses I'd like to teach. Essays is a mixed bag of notes on whatever's at hand - from hard science to fiber crafts to current events. Books focuses on my favorite books, old and new, fiction and non, with no attempt to keep up with what I'm "supposed" to read. My Fiction may actually turn out to be only one story, but if I come up with any more fiction, you'll be the first to know. Newswire collects interesting bits from other weblogs, and Story Index is the full list of longer pieces on the site, from all the categories.

To start, I have a few older completed pieces to store here immediately - Commentary on Tuesdays With Morrie, for example - but most will require that I (as Ursula LeGuin put it) "...apply the seat of the pants to the seat of the chair [and write]." Of course, she's the same person who said, "...Ready to begin? Of course you are. It's the middle that sends the writer running from the typewriter."

Nusuth. It's about time.
