Mighty Brew for the Do-It-Yourselfer. How long does it take to find an Internet site that would satisfy a yearning for a cup of dark, strong coffee so assertive that it risks assault charges? By Michelle Slatalla. [New York Times: Technology]

Mail-to-Weblog for Manila. The Mail-to-Weblog feature for Manila has been released:

"The Mail-to-Weblog feature makes it easy to post to your weblog by simply sending an email to your site. When this feature is enabled, Manila periodically checks for new messages in a POP email account that you specify, and posts new messages whose subject matches your "secret subject" to your weblog."
The feature is available now on all UserLand-hosted Manila sites. Here's how to enable Mail-to-Weblog in your own Manila site. If you run a Manila server, here's how to enable Mail-to-Weblog for your users. As a part of this feature, an update to tcp.getMail allows you to supply the address of a callback script, which can determine whether email messages will be deleted from the POP account, or left on the server. The good ideas and important reasoning are starting to pile up...

More about the Music

Roji has a fact-filled reply to Kevin Laws' guest post here regarding Ticketmaster.

Meanwhile, the VentureBloggers denounce my headhunting of their guest blogger (Bwahahahaha!), and add their opinions on the same post. Kevin rejoins in their comments.

Further to my own speculation on alternate promotional models, the Shifted Librarian points to a non-RIAA promotion gearing up. (Hat tip to Bone Lace.) [Due Diligence]

Turbo 10.  Here is something interesting.  A search engine that lets you search deep data Web sites (defined as any site that requires you to search a topic specific database to adequately access).  Check out the collections page. [John Robb's Weblog]
