I like Wesley Clark. I like the idea of a warrier reluctant to fight except in the last resort, but CAPABLE of fighting when needed. I like the idea of an intellectual in the White House (how often has THAT happened???) It comes as no surprise to me that real military men are reluctant to get into a war.. they know what it's like, after all, and General Patton was no dummy: WAR IS HELL. I am distressed that the real thinkers in this race seem to be military people. But I am dissatisfied with myself for being so critical of Clark's missteps. Politics has gotten so off course that real people have difficulty with it. There are so many stupid things you have to learn and use to be a politician. How can we get rid of this plague?

JESSICA LYNCH EVEN MORE OF A HERO
What character she has, to feel so badly about being called a hero when she knows she wasn't a hero, and then to say it to the entire nation. What rooted integrity, compared to Dubya in his phony fighter pilot jumpsuit foto-op. What honesty she has, to say it was wrong of her higher-ups to film her rescue and use her to symbolize "all this stuff." What generosity she has, to call her lost companions, and those still in Iraq, the real heroes. What strength of spirit she has, to make it through all that pain with a winning smile, compared to Dubya who has attended not one single funeral of the hundreds of men and women he has sent over there to die. What an example Jessica is, of America's best. She's a hero's hero. May she never give Dubya that foto-op he craves. [Pure Land Mountain]

Knoppix Saved My Dad's Data. Even before today, I couldn't say enough good things about Knoppix, the coolest run-from-CD Linux Distribution ever. But it gets better. When I got home from flying this evening, there were two messages on my answering machine. Both were my Dad telling me that his work laptop was fubar. He wanted to find a way to backup the data to his Linux box (one that I setup for him as a home server last year--that he doesn't know much about).... [Jeremy Zawodny's blog]
