The Laws of Critical Thinking Apply To Religion as Well!. I was reading up on some assumptions about Atheism and stumbled across this nugget. Atheist, Christian, Muslim, Shinto, Jedi Knight - whatever religion or non-religion you choose to follow - take note:

"Any person asserting a special individual right or attempting to dictate social policy based about a belief in god must first 1) define the god, 2) prove that the god exists and 3) demonstrate how the right or policy follows from the belief in god."

Please forward this post to G. W. Bush. Thanks to the Raving Atheist for the quote. [What Do YOU Think? Comment on this Post!] [Testify!] [Father Dan]

Cool Tool: Feedroll.com. It seems that Rollup.org has an older sibling: Feedroll, a service that takes an RSS feed (see my previous post) and churns out a small piece of code you can add to your web page to display the headlines from... [Channeling Cupertino]

New Radio tool: Workbench.root. I have released the first beta version of Workbench.root, a Radio UserLand tool offering simple scripts that extend the functionality of the software.

My goal is to offer a bunch of scripts that Radio UserLand users of all skill levels can put on their Web pages and Web site template files.

The first release offers two scripts:

  • Workbench.viewCategoryLinks, a script that displays a list of links for all of your weblog's public categories.
  • Workbench.viewPostIndexes, a script that displays a list of your weblog's entries in reverse chronological order, like the one I offer on Workbench.

Users of my old workspace.viewPostIndexes script will find that this version has been improved. It updates all of your post index pages each time you publish a new weblog entry instead of updating them once per day. [Workbench]

Meanwhile, back on Mars.

If you haven't kept up on the Mars Rovers, give JPL a visit. The Spirit Rover - the one that had to be reflashed - has just peeked over the edge of a good sized crater (that's the image). Today at lunch I sat next to a JPL technical manager on the autonomous navigation software - visiting DARPATEch to show off other robotics work - who told me that in the extended mission period (Sol 90+), geologists hope to have Spirit make a run to the 'East Hills' (the far right background in the image), several miles away. At a top speed of 5cm per second, it will be quite a trek. [Due Diligence]
