RIP: Neil Postman

Died, at 72, in New York, Neil Postman, NYU professor and media critic. His Amusing Ourselves to Death has been on my shelf for many years, and is a fine, principled critique of the devastation of public discourse by the mass media, which I fondly hope this medium may help repair. The irony of his departure on the heels of the California recall election is profound. [Due Diligence]
