Framers Of Constitution Purposely Secular?. Susan Jacoby of the New York Times had an interesting comment about the Democrats and the "God Gap." Basically, playing religious "me-to-ism" when it suits candidates plays to a dangerous myth: "That the American system was founded on divine authority rather than human reason." See, the framers of the Consitution deliberately omitted any reference to God, stating that the government's authority comes from "We the People."
Religious faith [argueably] has it's place, but in confronting human problems here on earth, no politician should suggest he is acting on "divine instructions." People who believe a politician that has made such a suggestion need to get their heads examined. [What Do You Think? Comment on this Post!] [Father Dan]
