I've suffered from New York envy over the last few years because the good city blogs seemed always to come from there. But if you live in the Los Angeles area, check out LA Observed.
One of the more interesting recent entries concerns the pillaging of LA Times staff by the NY Times. From the linked LA Weekly story we get some insight into possible motivation: "It’s well known that the NYT was smarting after the LAT routed them in the recent Pulitzer derby." - LA Weekly
Another interesting link points to a median housing price for the LA metro: $414,000. For all my youthful friends trying to get on their feet, some advice: buy a house in Arizona even if you don't want to move away. A tract home with a two hour commute can't be worth it.
