DateMagics

A while back I discovered that Google will allow a user to do searches based on when content has been indexed (discovered, if you like).  The great drawback of this feature is that the dates you are expected to supply must be in Julian1 format. Even with programming, this is a chore -

DateMagics ( http://hobbitwerk.brinkster.net/DateMagics ) is a utility that allows you to do date sensitive searches on Google.  For example, if I want to search for the word hostage, but limit it to the most recent activity in Iraq, I can put hostage as my search term and then supply a start date of 7/26/2004 and a stop date of 7/27/2004. Or, if you wanted to remember the good old days for Martha Stewart, search for Martha Stewart between the dates of 1/1/2000 and 3/3/2002.

Remember that this is based on when content is indexed so you'll have some unusual finds.

1Simply a continuous count of days and fractions since noon on January 1, 4713 BCE. The calendar you are familiar with is Gregorian. Julian dates are more useful for this type of thing and, from what I understand, astronomy.
