Tsunami Sentiment
It's a little sad that in Apple Pie America, the tsunami isn't much to talk about. I've no one to share the sentiment with, but it's probably the reason that some people were happy when they found out about 9/11. They didn't care about the politics of it, they just wanted some of the universal pain and tragedy of the world to be spread a little bit this way.
I wonder at catastrophe and our ability to conceptualize it from the comforts of being American. I wonder about "Christian" response; ignore it or have Falwell blame the gay people in south Asia?
Nobody will see you do it in church, but you can help. But even beyond donations, I think it begs the question of what we believe in: can we pray? Is God an interventionist?
