Winter, Farm

It's quiet when you go outside.  Ambient noise sometimes comes from wind blowing but without it you can pause and actually hear the silence.

The fields are empty; the farms around encompass open spaces.

I've never known the wonder of the Evergreen tree until this winter.  At a time when their deciduous cousins have shed their leaves and assumed the stark aesthetic of winter, Evergreens are true to their name, one which I now understand physically.  They provide shelter, not only to the small birds that nestle in the cover of their branches, but to the farm as wind blows relentlessly during winter.
