Every Moment
I've been many places here in the US, and it's rare that a place really sinks into me during my short trips. The places where I've already established bonds: the other Portland (Oregon) and San Francisco I've either lived in or visited many times. The fascinating places like New York city are just that, fascinating, but fail to inspire any sort of permanent bond other than wonder.
The value of a second trip is that some of the mystique wears away and a more concrete perspective of a place can set in. The suburbs of Portland, where I worked, are franchised to death. During my last trip I found Ricetta's, a small restaurant outside the city, but the only obvious establishments here around the mall are big chains. At the moment I type this from Panera.
I wish I could have a camera for every moment I had here.
 Bigger version here. (~292k)

Goodbye, Portland.
