PI Approximation Day

Today is PI approximation day.  It makes more sense if you're British but today's date is the 22nd of July, or for math cognoscenti 22/71.  A long time ago I had Mathematica crunch out 50,000 digits of PI for me but today I'm taking things farther: I've written Hobbitwerk::PIdigit, a tool to grab any number of digits from PI.  I got 500,000 digits from Mathematica but after an hour or so of a little program I wrote called Eve inserting values into my database, I stopped at 150,000 digits.  Check it out.

Happy PI Approximation Day!

122/7 is an approximation of PI - but it has been proven to be inaccurate. PI, like many other special numbers, remains in our world only as an approximation.
