Douglas Coupland, literally chewing
There is a mysterious confluence of good things; a few weeks ago I was reading about Gary Calamar, the KCRW host of The Open Road, and I discovered he selected the music for Six Feet Under, the brilliant show on HBO.
I couldn't have planned a better intersection of good things for N than Douglas Coupland and entomology (yes, you are an entomologist). Coupland, the author of more than a few books, probably best known for his moniker coining Generation X, is also an accomplished artist and designer. His latest set of sculptures include faux hornet nests made from the chewed remains of books - a few his own. The idea, apparently, came from contact with his cousin, a professional entomologist.
You can read about the exhibit here. There are some photos on Coupland's website.
