Godt Nytt År!

I've asked a few people of late whether they believe in resolutions for the new year.  Almost without exception, they snicker and answer with a solid negative.  It's strange to me because I know that we all, deep down, want to believe in change. We all want to believe that we can get better - if not in the reality of life at least in our mythology.  Perhaps it's the ritual of resolutions for the new year that makes people cynical.

I've been working on something new called phoDak over the last two weeks, waiting to really "begin" it formally today, on New Year's.  It's a simple photoblog for me but I hope that it helps me to begin to see the world around me differently.  It represents, for me, the truth that beauty is most often sought out.

I do make resolutions and even though my life has never fit in the constraints of my planning it's nice to go back and see how, slowly but surely, things do get better if only I try to make them so.  So here's to 2006:

"Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again.  Fail better."
