You are not special

... just because you like that Audi, or the house with character far
outside of the McHouse infested burbclave.  The truth is we all like
those nice things and occasionally, okay, not occasionally - how about
often? - we make the very logical decision to buy a Ford Taurus.

Because when you are at the dealership, running your fingers along the
perfect contour of the high performance, German engineering
masterpiece, you realize it costs $50k.  You're not a cheap person,
and neither are you a mathematician, but it comes to you in the back
of your mind that the $30,000 deficit between that perfection and your
bruised ego in a Ford Taurus is an amount you don't need a calculator
to realize is significant.

And maybe one day you make it.  That $30,000 or whatever is no longer
significant. And on that day you make your modest approach to the
dealership - the new car dealership - and pick that sleek, swift,
efficient looking ride.  On your way back, don't sneer at the guy you
see at the wheel of his 90s model Le Baron. He probably likes your new
4.6 as much as you do.

You are not special; the difference between you and him is that extra
disposable income.
